1. Information we collect

None. LightningSearch does not collect, log, or retain any personally identifiable information. We do not use cookies, browser fingerprinting, local storage for tracking purposes, or any other tracking technology.

The only data that leaves your browser when you use LightningSearch is:

  • The search query you type, sent to our server to process your request.
  • Your IP address, which is passed to a geolocation API solely to infer your country and preferred language so results can be more relevant. Your IP address is not logged or stored by us.

No query history, session data, or user profiles are created or persisted.

2. Third-party services

To deliver search results and AI-generated answers, LightningSearch forwards your query to the following third-party APIs. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

  • Serper / Google Search — retrieves web search results.
  • Cerebras — generates AI answers from the search results.
  • ip-api.com — infers country and language from your IP address.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services. We do not control their data practices, and any data they receive is governed by their own terms.

3. Cookies & analytics

LightningSearch sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. There are no advertising networks, social media pixels, or third-party JavaScript trackers embedded in this application.

4. Data retention

Because we do not collect data, there is nothing to retain or delete. Each request is handled transiently — queries are forwarded to upstream APIs and the response is returned to your browser. Nothing is written to a database.

5. Children's privacy

LightningSearch does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because no data is collected at all, this service poses no specific risk to the privacy of minors.

6. Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Because we collect no data, any future changes are unlikely to affect your privacy in a material way.

7. Contact

If you have questions about this privacy policy, you can open an issue or start a discussion in the project's repository.
